computer to home phone service
I have a 44kbs dial up modem/internet connection and i am making calls from my computer to poeples home phones. the voice quality is perfect, but there is a delay and sometimes its like a 2-way radio. A friend who has cable internet told me his faster speed makes this like a normal phone.
Just a week ago i bought a plantronics mono-headset for 15 bucks, with microphone.
That day i downloaded www.dialpad.com their software is a little bit smaller than a megabyte.
I paid $7.50 with my credit card and now have a plan for 300 minutes to the US or Canada a month. there are other plans, a fraction more, where you can dial anywhere in the counrty. its like 2 to 3 cents a minute depending on the plan.
I plan on burning this program to disk and use this in internet cafes wherever i travel and continue using this from my home.
I know i sound like an infomercial, but i cannot express how happy i am, i used to pay 50 cents a minute to call friends and family in the US. I know there are callback services for like 17 cents a minute, but nothing has compared like this.
I am curious of others experience. and if you use another provider. i tried skype.com but my credit card would not work with them!
i forgot to say, that it does not matter what country you are calling from, only where you are calling to!
