baseball comes alive
This anthology of professional baseball's World Series is a remarkable account of 100 years of the national pastime. Any baseball fan would love to own this book and many libraries probably already carry the book for those of you who would like to check it out for free. Written by Eric Enders - the colorful pages of photographs and detailed narrative, telling the tale of all the world series games from 1903 to 2002. Composite statistics are listed in the appendix as well as box scores from the games. On page 102 you'll also find a review of the women's league world series, called "diamond girls". On pages 114 to 117 the Negro League World Series is discussed. There could be other books for these two topics, and for a more lively discussion of the legendary black history of baseball, I recommend checking out the www.nlbm.com/ Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, in Kansas City, which I went to tour on 9/11/01 - the day of the attacks on the World Trade Center.
