Actually released in September, this album is somewhat of a departure for me. Instead of Indian chants or Arabic drums, this album is all cello and IDM glitchy beats. This album is most noteable for being produced by a woman, a very rare occurrance, and that fact combined with its cellousness reminds me a lot of 90s electroneer Andrea Parker. Rena Jones' album is extremely chilled, peaking at songs 3&4 with very sensual melodies and minimal beats that are actually set at a relatively uptempo 110bpm despite their relaxed vibe. This is a very textured album, though its blue mood wears on as the tracks pile up. A great way to start or finish a rainy day. - Spaceman , posted 11/05/06 |
