It doesn't much matter which guitar you choose, as long as it plays reasonably well and in tune. I play a Fender Stratocaster for some Soukous rhythm, and a Schecter C1+ for most of the soukous rhythm. I have an old Aria Pro II guitar that I use mainly for leads. Lokassa has used Gibson Les Pauls for years, but now uses a Schecter Stratocaster copy. No matter which guitar he uses, his sound is undeniably "Lokassa." If you're going to learn to play lead as well, I might recommend trying to find a guitar with 24 frets, but if you are mainly playing rhythm, Fender, Ibanez, Hamer, Godin. They're all good guitars.
