Avatar Cinemanga Vol 1
I love Avatar, I really do, but I hafta admit I was a little disappointed with the first book ever for it. First off, it's a Cinemanga. Basically, all it is - for those who may not know - is screenshots taken from an episode and given dialog bubbles. Which is all fine and dandy. I would have liked a little original side story or something, but oh well.

What kinda bummed me out is it was only one episode. Retail price is $7.99, and you get just one episode? Not even the full pilot? It's cheaper to buy the DVD for it's retail of $16.99. At least you get four episodes and a special feature on Kung Fu or something.

And the next book comes out in two months, and the third, two months after that. Um, one episode every two months? That'll take over three years to get one season out. That seems a little drawn out to me. The series will be over before season one is completely released in book form.

The book has a little 'Extras' section that had a brief blurb on all the nations and their benders. It also had the world map, with the original territories of the nations marked out. Interesting, but not outstanding.

Overall, the cinemanga is nice, but definately not a must-have unless you're a fanatic like myself. However, it would be good if you have not seen the episode and wanted to know what happened. - Lisa , posted 02/20/06
