Ticklishly Subversive Juxtaposition
This is a really great exhibit by a the very clever graffiti artist and urban prankster Banksy.

Banksy is a master of juxtaposition. Its not the kind of art where you'll be scrathing your chin wondering what it means. As soon as you look at one of his works it almost immedietly tickles your brain and make you laugh, even when the subject matter is heavy (and it most often is). If pretentiously cerebral had a positive opposite, this is it. Its a unique and refreshing sort of humor.

So if you live in LA, and read this before Sunday evening, I implore you to go see it. It goes from 12 noon to 8pm in a warehouse on Hunter st and Sant Fe blvd in downtown (you'll have to mapquest it because thats the only info available on the website). Its the last day so you got to get there before it closes at 8. It wasn't too crowded when we went at around 3, but I heard it got a little more crowded later. Admission is free.

(If you read about it in the newspapers--it made the front page of the LA times--don't pay the story no mind, they predictably focused on the most sensational piece and take it completely out of context, making it look like a pretentious gimmick. Its really not. And the animal is better off than most show animals, so unless your passionately opposed to domestication of animals I wouldn't worry about it. )
