Bellydance with Zills
Bellydance with Zills is an excellent DVD. I could never really get the rhythms down with the lead hand technique. This shows how to play with no lead hand, teaches you rhythms and how to dance with them. If you like to drum, you can pick up a little bit of that, too. I think
that this should be one of the first DVDs for a new dancer, as the intoduction to the rhythms is invaluable. - S , posted 07/11/08

Beginner Belly Dancing with Hannan Sultan Vol 2 DVD
I am presently taking belly dance classes, and I am always looking for ways to help supplement my dance practice at home. I feel this dvd really helps me with that.

Hannan's instruction is clear and precise on how to implement the movements. She is also careful to let you know "what not do" as well. I like that she takes time to show good posture and stresses it throughout. This volume includes a variety of travel steps (side semeha, sharki step, basic egyptian, etc.), walking hip circles, maya, snake arms, and 3/4shimmy, as well as a warm-up and cool-down.. After she teaches the movements, she puts them into 4 different combinations, then combines them all. There is plenty of repetition, so it makes for a great drilling practice. The production quality is very good. No weird camera angles or cuts, clear sound, and good lighting. The background is pleasant and not distracting. Hannan wears yoga pants with a simple hip scarf so you can see her movements easily.

I own quite a few "beginner DVDs" and I have to say it is one of the best that I have seen and worked with myself. I purchase d mine from her website. - Sunia , posted 03/01/07
