Some of the craziest shit I've ever heard...
It was supposed to be the Beach Boys' answer to Sgt. Pepper way back in 1967...It never happened then, but Brian Wilson and a 17-piece band finally got around to recording this epic in 2004...I highly recommend playing this album very loud with all of the lights off and a strong drink in your hand...You will be transported to another plane... - KevinC , posted 04/21/06

what a long, strange Smile it's been
I like records that sound like movies and THIS is what I'm talking about! You can hear some movie happening in there. I think it starts out as a bonfire on the beach on Christmas eve. You take a hit of acid: a little makes you feel good, so you figure alot will make you feel even better. Happy kinda crazy holiday sounding tunes melting together until it turns into a bad trip that sends you to the asylum. Then, you know, after the lobotomy, everything is all hunky dory again and you get another round of "Good Vibrations." Oh, hey, maybe that part WAS the lobotomy. haha. Anyhoo, it's 4 stars melting, dripping into the question mark forming over your head like some karmic balloon. Happy listenin' folks! - Magnonymous , posted 12/07/05

One of the Best Pop Albums EVER & a tv special about Brian Wilson
If you liked the Beach Boys, fine, if not, doesn't matter. Brian Wilson's long awaited completion and recording of SMILE, his colaboration with Van Dyke Parks is a joy.
Truly excellent music transcends notions of genre. SMILE certainly does that/ It is a musical portrait of America as adventurous and compelling as the great works of Dylan, Guthrie, Gershwin, Bruce, Johnny Cash, Ives, , etc.
