Pulitzer Prize Winner's book "Repair" needs no fixing.
CK Williams' book "Repair" is one of the better books of poetry I've read in recent months. Published in 1999, Repair has a generous number of poems, with Williams' unique voice and frame of mind. I especially liked his "Tantrum" - a poem about a child's scream and how the primal cry is superior to our own whining existence. However, the best poem, by far, I've read in the book is "King" the story of Williams' meeting with a black friend at the funeral of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This narrative, in five chapters about an incident with the police and the feelings Williams gets from his witnessing his friend being detained for absolutely no reason other than his walking to the funeral, shows compassion, understanding, warmth and the kind of desire to understand people of other races that I wish to aspire to. If this book isn't in your library, personal or public, I recommend you find a way to add it to your collection!

the following website gives a nice interview with CKW and he speaks of his experience with his King poem:
