Last year, someone gave me a pack of tobacco seeds. This summer I grew my first plant. My investigation reveals that in Canada it is legal for each individual to grow up to 8 plants. They grow to over 6 ft. tall and produce quite a lot of tobacco. - Xaliman , posted 09/30/06 |

As a californian, and a smoker, I strongly urge you to VOTE NO ON PROP.86!!!! This proposition, if passed will impose a new, $2.60 tax on cigarettes, bringing the price of an average pack up to arond $7.00!! Although intended to increase education about the dangers of smoking and prod people to quit, in reality, it will force people that smoke into the poorhouse!! There are many people in this state like my mother, who smokes 1&1/2 packs a day, but lives on a very tight fixed income,and is too set in her ways to quit, or looks at smoking as a neccessary stress reliever in a hectic and difficult world, as I do. Of course you are always free to do the research and decide for yourself, but personally, I strongly urge you to join me and VOTE NO ON PROP.86, in the California state election, held the first tuesday of November, 2006. Remember we (as smokers) have the right to a fair price, and we have ceceded to enough restrictions and taxes on tobacco already, enough is enough!!
