Criticizing West
West rambles too much. He makes a bit of ground developing the disinterest of the modern public to social causes, but after all the public he is fighting for the political favour of is the same one that voted Bush twice in a row. It is not a genious or unique idea that the public has become indifferent to social issues, it is a twice republician nation.
This speech begins well, but where is the rigour? West, as a philosophically astute man, could make much clearer argument and in a much more convincing fashion. This comes off as unrehersed, when the speech could have been more powerful another way. - august , posted 04/16/07

A must watch.
Check out the video of Cornel West that aired a few weeks ago on Democracy Now!. West espouses his passionate perspective on being a "leftist" right now. Its a three part video. Watch them all. The first is at: www.youtube.com/watch
