Crackpot: the Obsessions of John Waters
For anyone who hasn't read John Waters's collection of his magazine essays, Crackpot, there's an updated version with 9 features new to the collection and a Director's Commentary(!!!).
I found a copy a couple of days ago from a huge stack at Dog Eared Books for $3.98 (marked down from $13!).

If you've never read this book or Waters's articles before, this is a hilarious collection...one of the most laugh-out-loud funny books I've ever owned, and $4 would be a very fair price for the older edition, methinks. Whether you're a fan of his movies, kitsch, films, kitschy films or just of smart-assed and smart humor along the lines of David Sedaris, I can give this an unconditional recommendation to anybody who thinks they're likely to be interested in the first place. Since it was remaindered at Dog Eared, it likely to be amongst sale books at Booksmith in the Haight and other similar places.

Run, don't walk. And empty your bladder before operating, if possible. - Agent J , posted 11/11/04
