A Class like you've never heard of...from Merrit College in Oakland

This is a special invitation to take part in the following class:
Cycles of Change, a series of bicycle-based journeys into the heart of the
Bay Area. With the help of some wrinkles in time, we will travel ancient
pathways, follow lost rivers, and learn the hidden stories within the city
while visiting some spectacular destinations. Geography, ecology, hydrology,
cultural history and other fields will be woven together as we move closer
to this place we call home.
The class is offered through Merritt College's Landscape Horticulture
Department, beginning on Saturday, March 18. It will consist of nine
Saturday field trips, each lasting from 10-4. It is not necessary to attend
all the trips in order to enroll in the class (but you'll get 3 credits!).
The first day meets at Merritt College – it is a hiking trip, and no bicycle
is necessary. Thereafter, each trip will meet at a BART station and involve
light to moderate riding. Definitely bicycle tune-ups, and possibly loaner
bikes, can be arranged.
There is an enrollment limit - it is first come, first serve and is limited
to 25. You have to enroll through the college's computer system (or on
paper, in person) to guarantee your spot in the class and be able to come on
the trips.
You can do this by going to www.merritt.edu, and signing up for class code
M1416 in the Landscape Horticulture Dept. (Class #480-O, "Cycles of land
use" – a compromise title).
