Elise Lorimer at Yoga Tree

It's kind of torture yoga occasionally, especially for the first month or so, where you're dripping sweat everywhere and everyone can do a headstand but you, but Elise's classes are so humorous and varied and non-judgemental that I just kept on going. Now I'm more muscley than I've ever been in my life, I can do a number of fairly horrible bendy things that I never thought possible, and I'm not even a little bit bored. I would recommend her classes over at the Castro rather than the Valencia location (the Castro location is a lot less crowded and therefore more energetic) and I would recommend her to people who have at least a year's practice under their belts. Yoga Tree has an unfortunate (and somewhat sleazy, in my opinion) tendency to pack customers into the studios like sardines, but fortunately Elise's classes are in the afternoon, and therefore not too crowded. Plus she makes all these great growly yoga noises. None of that "I am your guru talking in an unbearably slow monotone" nonsense.
