Pushes the same old buttons...
The reason I went to see this movie was that Johny Depp was in it - and even that was not quite enough to save this one. Not that it was unwatchable or anything, but I thought that the first half was a total sleeper, and when the touching bits finally started to kick in - and they were indeed touching - I had already decided that the movie wasn't all that great.
I guess maybe that I am just tired of seeing vibrant youthful leading ladies come down with terminal illnesses. The other thing that bugged me was that the dialog included the phrase "will you excuse us for a moment" like a dozen times. I mean how come we couldn't just structure the scene so that the two people who needed to talk were the only ones in the room, rather than continually needed to excuse those people who were not supposed to hear the conversation.
So in short, not a great film, but a tear jerker.
