If you've ever been interested in taking a fire dancing and you can come to Oakland then take Leticia's fire dancing classes. I took her beginning fire poi class and it was awesome! She's a great teacher, very laid back and VERY good at what she does. She's also a great link to get hooked up in fire community. ...Are you captivated by a single flame? Do you love to set things alight? Have you always wanted to safely play with fire? If you answered yes to just one of these questions than the six-week How To Play With Fire, Fire Dance Academy’s Introductory Fire Dance Course might fulfill your fantasies! This course introduces students to the basics of playing with Fire Poi (Fire Poi – balls of fire attached to chains and spun around the body), fuels, safety and performance. This round of courses will start in Greensboro, North Carolina, Tuesday evening on July 25th and meet one hour every Tuesday for six weeks. No prior experience is required and a set of practice Day Poi (Day Poi – Poi that one does not light on fire) will be provided at no additional charge. The classes are $20 a class or $80 for all six (trade is an option). PyroCelt, an experienced fire dancer who learned in Romania, Finland and Ireland, will be teaching these classes. You may have seen him in performances around the Triad or with the fire dance troupe he founded, the Flaming Faeries.
