Avoid unless you're working on a big project
When I go into a Home Depot, I usually come out wondering why I wasted my time there.
If you are looking for hardware for a small project or to help you repair something, look elsewhere. Orchard Supply is 1 mile away at Ashby & San Pablo, and has an inventory which rivals Home Depot for smaller projects.
It's hard to find someone to help you. The people who do help you are frequently rude and not knowledgeable at all. There is usually an adult or staff person yelling at the top of their lungs at someone else. The lines ar long. There's always some manager yelling on the overhead speaker. The sale prices are great, but the regular prices aren't very good.
The store is overwhelming and it's easy to get lost.
Still, they have one of the best selections for large home improvement projects-- lumber, sinks, light fixtures, kitchens, etc.
They have the Best paint section of any hardware store in the East Bay.
However, they don't always have a good selection of little parts and pieces that you need for those home improvement projects. For those pieces, you'd be better off at Orchard Supply at Ashby & San Pablo.
