Funny thing happened on the way to the computer
I just wanted to share what happened to me a short time ago.
I was walking to the library to visit Tribe.net, since I can't resist the internet and have no computer in my home.
Two gentlemen were arguing over the 2004 Ohio vote, and I was overwhelmed with the volume of their tone and the anger, so I commented that if John Kerry had done a better campaigning job, there wouldn't have been a vote controversy.
One of the gentlemen put his finger in my face and expressed rage at his son being in Iraq.
Since I was woken up by a disturbed colleague this morning and was not in a great mood, (I found a mediator to peacefully convince him I am his friend, to my colleague's dismay, who wants this to escalate) I overreacted and told the angry gentleman with the finger to not do that to me or I would knock him out.
He came after me and I retreated.
He smiled and felt victorious and continued his rant.
He turned to me and said next time I should express my point more clearly.
I told him I had said if John Kerry had done a better campaigning job there wouldn't have been a voter controversy in Ohio and that I thought that was very clear.
We debated, and he felt Bush had an agenda to gain power and wipe out the middle class.
I asked him if power really existed and it's ironic that Bill Clinton is so "evil" for lying to a grand jury about sex, but others have about genocide.
I find this whole Scooter Libby thing to be an angry reaction about freedom of speech, but hopefully, I'm paranoid.
The gentleman said Bush had won. I asked what has he won?
I pointed out without the poor, the rich can't survive. The gentleman added, don't forget about the middle class, to which I replied, there is none anymore.
The gentleman extended his hand and apologized. I shook it and I apologized as well.
The important thing is not to be divided, and not to let manipulators, real or perceived succeed in divisiveness.
Other countries are very exotic, and perfect for many, but this is the best one to live in, in my opinion. - (Mr) , posted 10/31/05
