Killer Joe
One of the most stunning plays I have seen to date. Witty dialogue, creative set design, top-shelf acting, riveting action and a brilliant storyline.

I highly suggest you head over to the Magic Theater at Fort Mason in SF soon before it ends!

Warning: Not a happy-feel-good-first-date production! - , posted 06/21/06

"Who told you about Killer Joe?"
I can't review it cuz I'm the Stage Manager.
I know this is cheap plug, so sue me! I've seen it over 100 times and love it each and every time. The cast is exceptional and you won't believe your eyes. It is violent and very graphic - not for the faint of heart but it is funny and scary and brilliant. YMMV - June , posted 06/16/06

intense but great
i agree, the show is really disturbing, but the writing is so tight, the acting is so right on and amazing and physical, what a great play! they looked exhausted when they took their bows, and it's not really that long of a performance. saw it the other nite. for fans of sam sheppard, i'd say. - Elmo loves Ken , posted 06/10/06

If you enjoyed Reservoir Dogs and Happiness...
and you have any interest in live theater at all, you should reserve your tickets right now for this limited engagement of Killer Joe at the Magic Theater. Those of you who know me know that I am not prone to rave reviews, but this production is nothing short of brilliant. I mean jaw droppingly, trembling while walking to the car after the show, this is going to invade my dreams for weeks brilliant.

If you can handle the intensity of a theatrical experience that rivals, if not exceeds Reservoir Dogs and Happiness, (and many theatergoers cannot, as evidenced by the walkouts at intermission) then you should see this. This production deserves to get an audience that appreciates it. - , posted 06/04/06
