Yesterday afternoon, I finally got a chance to stop into Miranda Caroligne, the boutique that Morninglove just opened at 14th & Guerero. It was a drizzly, gloomy day and I was out in the weather asking shop owners if they'd hang Circo Romani posters in their windows. I'd been meaning to check out her store and this was a perfect excuse.
While the sign wasn't too obvious, I knew I was in the right place when I saw the blue-haired Morninglove sitting in the window sewing away. She's just so cute. While I expected some hipster boutique with overpriced items on sparsely populated shelves, I found instead a warm space that's one part workshop, one part retail store. The clothes are refreshingly unique and playful. It's a GREAT Place to go for something different.
In a matter of seconds, I spotted something stripey hanging on a rack. I pulled it out to find the cutest dress, partly black & white striped, partly black, red trim. SO DIVA! I just loved it. Had to try it on. OMG, it was just fabulous... AND DIFFERENT!
I told her I couldn't afford the dress til after the show and she insisted that I take it. I couldn't believe it! I giggled and giggled. This is the coolest new article of clothing I've acquired in ages. I LOVE IT! I wore it home. I wore it to Bondage-a-gogo despite the fact that it's made of cotton knit. I wore it again today. And everywhere I've gone, I've received compliments and "Oh my god! Where'd you get that?!?!"'s from friends and total strangers.
So... the moral of this story is that next time you're thinking of hitting the mall, go to Miranda Caroligne, instead!
