Mortician strike back with a live monster...
The grind-masters Mortician roar back with an extra-heavy live offering culled from various shows on their tours ranging from 2001-2002. This no-bullshit affair comes straight from the soundboard and blasts like a legion of panzer tanks roaring through a nursery with Will Rahmers inhuman growl leading the charge. Unlike many live releases, this is obviously mixed from the soundboard tapes adding a true "no bullshit" vibe to the album. The performances (featuring live drums and samples) are raw and violent, the production is in-your-face and ready to rumble and the song selection will make give any fan of Morticians earlier work something to enjoy.

While the Mortician onslaught is hardly something one can pick apart song by song in the live setting (much like a Misfits set) as each song comes one right after the other like a jackhammer to the side of the mind, a few key tracks come into play on this CD. The opening "Chainsaw Dismemberment" roars along with a certain extra-punch and the double shot of "Slaughtered/The Crazies" also stands out as being a particularly inspired performance. Other shots like "Domain of Death" and "Blown to Pieces" also slam with a certain unrelenting conviction that few could ignore. All of it though...meets a standard of brutality that doesn't forgive nor does it forget. The favorites will vary from fan to fan but the overall vibe is the same to all...pure sonic chaos!

Mortician live, or in the studio...are a love-it-or-hate-it affair. I for once, enjoy this direct take on death metal as it simply kicks ass and asks no questions. Mortician delivered exactly what we've come to expect...and most importantly what most of us wanted.
