Dr. Stewart Gooderman is simply awesome!
My optometrist of 2.5 years, Dr. Stewart Gooderman, is quite simply awesome, and I should know, because it took me a heap of time and money wasted with other uninspired optometrists that preceded him, and believe me I tried some supposed-to-be-good optometrists beforehand who just did not help much at all. I needed a caring and sharp professional to work with who was good at fitting contacts for my dry eyes. No other optometrist was able to do it effectively...I even went to top-rated places like the Berkeley Optometry Center - useless! - most of them were more interested in their profit-margin rather than listening to me and truly working with me to find a solution. I had basically given up until a co-worker ditched her glasses and gave a positively glowing recommendation for Dr. Gooderman. She was someone who had not had much luck getting fit either due to some tricky astigmatism. I went based on her enthusiasm. I am totally glad I did. Dr. Gooderman fit me in a non-standard brand of soft contact when other doctors had been trying to shoehorn me into hard lenses. Dr. Gooderman tried some specialty soft-lens brands on me and got it totally right in only 2 visits. I was stunned. Since then, I have directed another hard-to-fit friend to him as well. Same success story, my friend happily wears contacts daily now... He's great in so many other ways as well. He is one of those rare doctors who is in the practice for the love of it and has a passion for fitting patients and seeing them happy. He stays abreast of all the latest breakthroughs in the industry. He has a groovy selection of frames. And to top it off, he does not charge pretentious prices. He also has handy after-work and Saturday hours. All this, and Dr. Gooderman possesses wit and personality to boot. Dr. Gooderman is centrally located close to Border Books in Union Square.
