yeah except for having a finger forcibly stuffed in her vagina and being nearly raped
I'd like to read just one goddamned novel without sexual violence. I really enjoyed it right up until that totally gratuitous event. - Nicole , posted 03/30/06

I agree!
I read this book about 3 years ago and have read it a couple of times since then. My copy is so battered due to many of my friends having read it and enjoying it as much as myself. - nixxed , posted 03/29/06

Fun to read tale with a message about the meat industry
I originally heard about "My Year of Meat" from the "I just finished reading..." Tribe, and it's an awesome book I'd strongly recommend to anyone!

It's fictional novel about a young woman hired by a Japanese beef company to create a television show promoting American wives, their homes, and their meat dishes to their Japanese counterparts, and what she learns about the U.S. meat industry and herself in the process.

Not too anti-meat for those who are sensitive about wanting to eat it, but it does contain some facts that most readers won't be able to ignore! - Jenni , posted 03/29/06
