I'm local, so of course I'm biased...
I live in NOLA, so I am a little biased after all. But April is a really great month here in NOLA. March & April, and maybe late September through October are probably the nicest times of year here. Not so overwhelmingly hot, and there is usually plenty to do around town during both times. In the spring there is always Jazzfest and French Quarter Fest. This year there is also Convergence XII, a HUGE gothic/industrial music & cultural festival, which will be held here Easter weekend. Then of course Halloween is one of the best times all year to come to NOLA. We do it like nowhere else. There are usually a lot of other random local happenings during these times too, since the weather is nice.
Come down! NOLA needs your tourism dollars now more than ever. Just do everyone a favor and don't take one of those guided tours of the heavily damaged areas of the city....remember, those areas represent people's lives and homes, not some attraction for tourists.
