Rare glimpse into the mind of a genuine "World Musician."
"World Music" has, of late, become a catch all term for music that understands no one culture's folk music well.... and wants to dabble on the surface of all of it.

Loreena McKennitt, who may have been the first to coin the term, is a refreshing exception. She studies well the worlds from which she borrows her styles.

In "Nights from the Alhambra" (the DVD) she takes the time to explain some of the history behind her Islamic influenced musical artistry. And also her repertoire born from celtic influences.

Especially beautiful are her new, live versions of, her old standards: "Stolen Child"; "Dante's Prayer" "Lady of Shalott" and "Bonny Portmore."
