Evil Phishers
They sent me three emails telling me a new email had been added to my account. I did not click; was I born yesterday? - Morgan , posted 03/02/07

Can't blame paypal
Never click a link from ANY email that you do not know the sender. If it is legitimate, manually go to the website and log in. Any errors of this magnitude will set off dialog boxes when you log in. This type of scam is not at all new. - funyun , posted 03/02/07

so true
paypal cost me hundreds of pounds, and one of my friends, it cost them over a thousand, then it wouldn't let me delete my account... everythings been sorted now though, but, paypal which is supposed to be the most trustworthy internet payment turns out to be not so trustworthy... what does that say about all the others?? - samantha , posted 03/02/07

PayPal comment
Affirmed 5 because it's true -- it happened to me. By the time I realized it was phony and was asking for things I wouldn't have given up, they already had enough to hurt me. They attempted to spend my account money from GA to Australia -- and then attempted to transfer money from my account to PayPal in order to transfer it to them. After the GA thing I was watching for trouble, and it came. I had to close the account and get new cards, etc. Fortunately I caught it before it was a significant hurt.

BEWARE PAYPAL SCAM EMAIL!
If you receive the email below claiming to be from service@paypal.com, DO NOT CLICK through on the alleged service link: it is an international credit card/identity theft scam.

The link appears to be that of Paypal.com and claims to be alerting you to an unusual account activity inquiry, but in fact leads directly to a fake log-in page (that will accept any email name & password combination you give it- first sign of the scam); it will then ask for your credit card & PIN information, DOB, SSN, checking account number, & your address & phone number. Again, DO NOT enter any of this information; log in to www.paypal.com directly and you'll see that there's no such inquiry pending from them on you.

This scam has been reported to Paypal, but other such scams are out there. Be smart. Check the web address of any websites from any emails claiming to represent someone seeking to verify account info, and when in doubt use Google.com to see if there are any reported incidents of this kind of fraud, which can lead to serious identity theft issues.

PS - (The server handling this scam is located in Morocco: now ask yourself - is Paypal's corporate HQ really in Casablanca or Marrakesh?!) - Unsubscribed , posted 05/12/05
