This latest book, by Barbara Ardinger is like being in her living room with a glass of lemonade, and having a close chat. She is witty, and down to earth in her musings, and knowledge. This book has a little of us all in the pages and is a delight to read.

Featuring profiles of Marija Gimbutas, Dion Fortune, Rachel Carson, and major mythologists like Robert Graves and Joseph Campbell, as well as modern goddesses like Wonder Woman, Lady Liberty, and Miss Piggy, Barbara Ardinger’s newest book, Pagan Every Day Finding the Extraordinary in Our Ordinary Lives, gives us something to think about on every day of a year and a day.

Ardinger has filled her pagan book of days with deft prose and wry observations inspired by seasons, traditions, and cultural imperatives. Blessedly, there is no attempt to find a perfect match for each day of the year to an ancient pagan holiday or event. Instead, the daily essays roam through classical and popular literature, well-researched history, personal experiences with pagan ritual, and the mighty influence of Miss Piggy. Even the most careening of the short essays is pulled together with a keen insight or thoughtful challenge to the reader. While typically waxing poetic, Ardinger is not above giving some practical advice (Be nice! Be open-minded! Go to church with your parents on Christmas Eve!), somehow making it warm, wise, and inspiring. Warning: you'll want to read ahead.”—Library Journal

Jane Goodall, Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Bewitched, the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Future, Mary Magdalen, tales of Christian saints, lessons from history, sun signs, and brand new original rituals—they’re all presented in Pagan Every Day to remind us that every day of our life can offer something ordinary and luminous at the same time.

This work is a fun introduction to the pagan calendar and its implications for daily living. It’s good to hear about the old festivals and reasons to celebrate practically everything. Life gets new dimensions, new meaning. Well done!—Z. Budapest
