Loved it
Good characters, fabulous scenery. Plot a little mechanistic towards the end but I can forgive that because the writing's good. - Unsubscribed , posted 11/14/05

Lucky Accidental Find
Like a few other reviewers i stumbled onto this book by accident. Excellent story, great characters, brilliantly written account of a summer nightmare taking over a futuristic nowhere non-london. Kind of like the mutant love child of a three way with Stephenson, Murukami, and Kundera. - Alison , posted 07/12/05

Great book!
This book is a love affair with a city. The story, characters, plot, everything is a vehicle for this spectacular city that Mieville has created.

This is a really good book, fun read. The amazing setting and descriptions couldn't quite hide the fact that the rest of the book was just pretty good. I'd give it a hearty 4 out of 5 and a definite recommendation. - Dan , posted 04/04/05

Lush, colorful, imaginative
I'm reading Mieville's novels backwards, having started with "The Scar" (which is wonderful - think Moby Dick on acid) and then got to Perdido Street Station. Holy shit! This guy is GOOOOOOOOD! - Dr. Ivo , posted 08/09/04
