Like a few other reviewers i stumbled onto this book by accident. Excellent story, great characters, brilliantly written account of a summer nightmare taking over a futuristic nowhere non-london. This book is a love affair with a city. The story, characters, plot, everything is a vehicle for this spectacular city that Mieville has created. This is a really good book, fun read. The amazing setting and descriptions couldn't quite hide the fact that the rest of the book was just pretty good.
