Nothing But Richness
You will find nothing in the way of service and will have to find a place to stay, but if you want the kind of adventure jungle spot that you fantacisize, because of movies, about Porto Bello, the old pirate haven and location of the Golden Era Spanish mint is the place to go. There are wild monkeys, toucans, jaguar, liana strewn jungle, mountains, four castle-like fortresses, an indian village that specializes in making dug-out canoes, honky tonks and very friendly people if you like to drink. There is also a 16th Century church and art done by Congo people, who were never slaves.
It is one of the safest bays in Panama for anchoring, if you can avoid Drake's Rock just outside the bay to the South, or actually East (it just looks South in Panama). Panama is by far, to me the friendliest country I have ever visited and most people speak English.
Oh, and remember the Porto Bello Mushroom comes from Porto Bello.
