I am a pescatarian (fish and veggies only) and any one of my friends will tell you I am the BIGGEST FOOD SNOB ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. I've been blessed enough to eat at some very fine restaurants and tonight I was lucky enough to experience that hoppin' tapas bar down the street from me in Venice. Primitivo is one of the finest Tapas dining experiences I ahve ever had. The wine list is mind blowing and creativity and freshness went into every single dish. Citrus grilled scallops, tangy ceviche topped with a loving dollop of fresh guacamole, warm red and gold beet salad in a juicy vinagrette...I don't want to give away too many more secrets...just do yourself a favor and go check out primitivo and let me know what you thought of it. BTW--the wine is priced VERY fairly..and if you can't make up your mind you can order a half glass. Be prepared for a very dynamic, loud place with pumping (but GOOD mind you) music. If you're an old fuddy duddy who just wants a quiet romantic night...well go somewhere else! - McKenna , posted 09/03/04
About time LA had a good wine bar
Primitivo is a hip European style wine and tapas bar. Located on uber-trendy Abott Kinney Blvd in Venice. Good 30 something crowd and a great place to try some good cheap wines by the glass. Great small plates, too. Along with Joes Restaurant, this street is becoming a foodies haven. - Cory , posted 08/31/04
Awesome tapas in Venice
Definitely one of the best restaurants in LA. Amazing tapas and great wines, cozy outdoor patio in back, lots of good people-watching, and they serve food until 11PM. Drawbacks: inside it can get really loud - go out back instead. - Lisa , posted 08/26/04
