Perhaps I need to read one of his books to get a better feel for him, but I was once involved in a "Samaelian" gnostic group that felt rather cultlike to me. The teachings seemed very arrogant, at times anti-intellectual, and often puritanical. It was disillusioning for me to see that mystics could have many of the same qualities that I dislike in fundamentalists. I'm sure "Master" Samael had his insights, but I find the name he chose(Samael = "God's poison") to be eerily appropriate. - Jon , posted 05/09/08 |

I've been studying a lot of this guys stuff at www.gnosticteachings.org/ and at first I found it almost to much to handle but now I see that it has some very profound insights that make an incredible amount of sense.. I recommend it completely although I'm sure that very few will agree with everything he says...Your ego won't let you... And yes Jon you have to read 'A' book, geeze! The man wrote about 70, of which every single one is amazing... How can anyone rate something without reading one book or with hardly any knowledge...?
