Is stark contrast to the hustle and bussle of LA. Perched just above the Malibu coast in Pacific Palisades, take Sunset Blvd east from PCH up the hill a few clicks and it's on your right side. I believe it opens at 9 am daily. Yogananda was just what the west needed. He blended eastern idealism with western concepts of capitalism and real estate investment and showed how they don't have to be completely opposing ideals. A most important figure in the Age of Aquarius. - John , posted 06/01/06

Meditation hideaway - free to the public
Find your center with this urban oasis. A place where you can relax and meditate on what's meaningful in life. There is an outdoor altar behind the lotus arch containing some of the ashes from mahatma Ghandi's funeral pyre, or just sit peacefully by the flowering paths as you contemplate the 3-ft koi. All religions (or non-religions) welcome - non-denominational. - James , posted 08/31/04
