Nice touches
Without a doubt one of the most thoughtful and truly trenchant descriptions I've ever heard to attempt placing into cultural and social context the SMURFS. I'll never oogle smurfette the same ever again... - Unsubscribed , posted 07/22/06

Yep Yep
A completely consuming movie...loved the ride...always inspired by the beginning stream of consciousness from the guy in the cab...his thoughts on reality and simultaneous existences are wonderful...

Yep Yep... a great flick all around~ - Strawberry , posted 10/10/05

Like a home movie ...
I first moved to Austin in 1988. This movie was made a couple years later and just happened to feature a small number of my social acquaintances. It was also filmed in some of my favorite parts of town, so today, it's like watching old footage of one of my favorite years in the place where I spent it. Also, the running themes of conspiracy, disconnection, free-floating chaos and benign eccentricity really tickle me - I love bits like "Recoiling in disgust is not the same thing as apathy" and "I'll get a job..when I hear the true call." Look out for the loon who thinks we're colonizing Mars with slave laborers and the old man who romanticizes assassins - hilarious. - Eric , posted 02/06/05

SLACKER
I just love the style Linklater shot this in....The way attention of the camera changes from each character's interaction with each other, be it even a brush on the street... - Darren , posted 01/11/05

And some of our favorite SF folks like Kal and Seth are in it. - John , posted 01/10/05

Slacker
Dir: Richard Linklater

SLACKER follows the unmotivated inhabitants of Austin, Texas, over the course of one day, as they waste their time talking about politics, philosophy, and popular culture. - m@r+y , posted 12/22/04
