Like a home movie ...
I first moved to Austin in 1988. This movie was made a couple years later and just happened to feature a small number of my social acquaintances. It was also filmed in some of my favorite parts of town, so today, it's like watching old footage of one of my favorite years in the place where I spent it. Also, the running themes of conspiracy, disconnection, free-floating chaos and benign eccentricity really tickle me - I love bits like "Recoiling in disgust is not the same thing as apathy" and "I'll get a job..when I hear the true call." Look out for the loon who thinks we're colonizing Mars with slave laborers and the old man who romanticizes assassins - hilarious.
