Interesting forward
A couple of years ago a friend of mine moved from Los Angeles to a small town in the Ozark Mountains coming back to a small community where She’d lived some 25-years before moving away. These are her thoughts,
"One of the best differences in the people is the small town thinking that, “It’s more important to be polite than to be right.”
That way of thinking probably comes about because in a small town you have to deal with the same people over and over, and hurt feelings seem to spread just as fast as the talk about good deeds done. The same person you saw in the grocery store may be the lady behind the counter at the DMV office. On the road where I live the local deputy sheriff is also the guy who picks up the trash every week. These same folks may come into the office to see the doctor where I work.
People in small towns see each other in a variety of situations that always seem to be changing, and Karma comes back around quicker than you can blink an eye! Therefore, drivers routinely wave to each other when passing because you always want to be friendly to everyone, if at all possible. My reputation (or what is known about me) will often precede my meeting someone, because there are few folks who are “new” to the area and everyone wonders what they’re like. In the small town, it sure IS more important to be polite than to be right!
I’ve lived in several large cities in my life and it only seems to be there where I run into folks who are so cranky that sometimes I feel I should tell them they need to take a nap!
Like it or not there are some rules for living that we all have to abide by. The ones I like the best come from a song sung by some musician friends of my in a group called Harmony. The song says that of all life’s lessons the greatest of them all come from the little poem hanging on the Kindergarten wall…

Of all you learn, remember these the best:

§ Don’t hurt each other and clean up your mess.

§ Take a nap every day, and wash before you eat.

§ Hold hands, stick together, look before you cross the street.

§ Remember the seed in the little paper cup? First the root goes down and then the plant comes up!

There are some simple Laws of Nature that we would definitely be wise to respect. One of those is that what goes around comes back around, sometimes called The Law of Cause and Effect. With this in mind it's easy to see that there is a strength to be acquired in gentle, loving conversation filled with mutual respect. As practitioners of magic, it's always good to have the great Natural Laws working in one's favor.

How well do you play with others? Is it more important for you to be right than to be polite? Do you think before you speak to see if there is Love in your heart?

The circumstances of our lives reflect our inner thinking. Therefore, if you were King or Queen for a day how would your kingdom reflect the message you send out to the folks in your realm?

THE RULES FOR BEING HUMAN

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a fulltime informal school called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error, experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately "works."

4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive there are lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is no better than "here." When your "there" has become a "here" you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie inside you in that still small voice within. The answer to ALL of life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is ask, look, listen, and trust.

10. This will often be forgotten, only to be remembered again.

"The secret of rulership is to combine a belief in one's own infallibility with the power to learn from past mistakes."

~ George Orwell, 1984

LEO: “I LOVE and I WILL”

1st Decan (Cardinal) Influence: "RULERSHIP”

(July 23rd – August 1st)

"Rulership" is taken from the Latin "Rugier" meaning a straight stick. We see this Leo tendency to want to keep people ruled in a straight line as one of their best characteristics. If you look to see where Leo has been and where he is at now you can project him straight forward and know where he is going -- without variance.

KEY to Understanding LEO: RULERSHIP

So strong is the influence to Rule over others that Rulership is also the KEY to Understanding this LEO influence that urges us to combine our Love with our Will. The word "Love", so big in Leo lives, comes to us from the Anglo-Saxon "lufa" which meant a strong attachment and Leos do have a strong attachment to things and to people. Therefore, while the Sun passes through the sign of Leo we find ourselves urged to mix our Strength of purpose with our desire to Rule over those we Love.

Leo’s Ruler: The Sun

The Sun’s command: ‘Be Strong’

The Sun is power and the Creator urges each of us to be strong, but those under his rulership hear this command with greater clarity than any. The Creator is also Love. For those below -- native of Leo -- the concern for Love and Strength tends to mix the Leo up some in his desires; first his love for people, which is very great, and then his desire to rule over them. These two desires must combine with the "I will" command and the tendency to love and rule is further mixed with the desire of these people to do whatever they will, for Leo is the most strongly self-willed of all the signs.

Personal Experience speaks with the most Wisdom.

"There will be no end to the troubles of states, or of humanity itself, till philosophers become kings in this world, or till those we now call kings and rulers really and truly become philosophers, and political power and philosophy thus come into the same hands."

~ Plato: Ancient Greek Philosopher. Considered the world's most influential philosopher. (428 BC - 348 BC)

Life is just a reflection
Sometime mirrored i nthe past
As we strive for perfection
We live until we last

Where the new might grow with the old
Where the fool is oft times the wise
Everything has got to be evened out
Leaving as without a doubt

Home, home from the horizon
Far and clear
Hither to the soft wings sweep
Flocks of the memories
Of the days draw near

The dove-cote doors of sleep
Which way are they, that come through this sweet light
Of all these homing birds
Which? with the straightest and the swiftest flight
Your words to me, your words

The first time I took this girl's hand
She was as if for whom I was born
And there's more besides a fair morning
Needed for a fair day

Like an arrow in the night
Like an arrow by the day

Come away from your bed at night
Leave all those empty halls behind
Have no fear of death, have no fear of life
The taste of victory ahead, the spirit never dies
Like an arrow in the night
Like an arrow by the day

A mission bell by the ghostly station
Tolling in the wind
The veins in your hand
stretch like broken trees of winter
The last call the last port of entry
Like an arrow in the night
Like an arrow by the day

Fill your heart with love today

Don't play the game of time

Things that happened in the past

Only happened in your Mind

Only in your Mind-Forget your Mind

And you'll be free-yea'

The writing's n the wall

Free-yea'. And you can know it all

If you choose. Just remember

Lovers never lose

'Cause they are Free of thoughts unpure (sic)

And of thoughts unkind

Gentleness clears the soul

Love cleans the mind

And makes it Free.

Happiness is happening

The dragons have been bled

Gentleness is everywhere

Fear's just in your Head

Only in your Head

Fear is in your Head

Only in your Head

So Forget your Head

And you'll be free

The writing's on the wall

Free-yea'. And you can know it all

If you choose. Just remember

Lovers never lose

'Cause they are free of thoughts unpure

And of thoughts unkind

Gentleness clears the soul

Love cleans the mind

And makes it Free!!
