Too much cheese, not enough grime!
I see the Suicide Girls phenomenon has finally hit the middle class.

(At least in video form. Especially now that Steve Jobs and Ipod have ahold of them. That's right, in addition to appearing in their own recurring video specials on American pay television, Ipod owners now have access to the infamous Suicide Girls at suicidegirls.com/ipod/)

After watching the Suicide Girls: The First tour last night, I regret to report to tribe.net that the impressive collection of web-based brainy goth/punks/pinks/thepierced seems to have lost some of their OOMPH in the upgrade to new mainstream exposure/software.

The burlesque video segments on last night's show and the interviews with the women sadly mirrored the Playboy centerfold videos that we've peeked a sneak at. Not that there happens to be anything wrong with the Hefgals but the Suicide Girls should be treated differently. Unfortunately, it's most more of the same. You know, a few seconds of the SGs talking and then a lengthy T&A routine set to some alternative music taking place on expensive sets with that fast-cut-hyper-ADD-MichaelBayish style of videography that us cyberwarlords have grown accustomed to. Sure there is some delicious boozedrinking and hardcore brash obnoxious behavior behind the scenes but we would rather have seen something a little deeper. Especially in an age when pornography seems to have inundated so many of our desktops.

Letz hope this was simply the first step into introducing the SGs into the mainstream rather then a whitewashing of what they truly represent - the modern erotica movement.

All is not lost in the movement towards homogenization. If any of you can get ahold of the producers of this series, how about injecting some of the aspects of the website that make the SGs so damn interesting...Rather than just having these self-proclaimed punk bitches give the finger to the camera, how about we delve a little deeper into the culture and reasons many of these women choose proud careers in erotica.

Better yet, give the Suicide Girls access to the cameras and let them produce something a little less slick and a little more sick. Instead of the Hefner routrine and some dirty language, lets get reality. These chicks represent power, so let them represent that power 100%. After all, the majority of the sgS aren't eye candy for men to sterotypically "take", they happen to be the first generation of dominant females capable of shaping the Western worlds view of erotica.

Sorry, the Playboy routine just doesn't fit. All is not lost, I've heard a web-based reality TV series on the way. I may direct it.
