Starts out charming and humorous. Develops with elements of mystery and drama. Ending is intensely emotional and beautiful. Reaches out to the soul, exploring relationships between father and son, teacher and pupil, boy and woman. A peasant moves to Beijing with the hopes of securing a professional musical career for his son, who is a violin prodigy. It's a coming-of-age experience for the boy, who in the end must choose whether to sacrifice everything he truly loves for commercial success. This movie is so amazingly beautiful. A small boy who is very talented on violin. The dad takes him to the big city and gives everything he has to help his son get a good instructor to further his musical talents.
