Historical Fact and Fiction
Definitely worth seeing...

Most of the historical information I already knew - having survived a sentence myself in Catholic high school (even went to a Protestant school my Freshman year).

My father - also a history buff - passed on most of this info when I was in school as he too had survived a tenure in Catholic School. Where I had the Irish Christian Brothers; He'd had the Nuns of Saint Mary's - rulers on knuckles and all.

Goes to show that for all the current finger pointing at Islamic Extremists; Christian Fanatics and Fanaticism is just as scary and violent (even more so as no one really acknowledges or recognizes it)... Bush and company are definitely in that camp. If not in true belief, then in understanding that that demographic is easy rial up and rally around the drum of Good Cristian Soldiers while waving the American Flag. Who would have thought that the Red White and Blue would one day be twisted enough by those who would use it, to the point where it closely resembled the Nazi Swastika.

Fundamentalism in any of it's faces can, and usually is, a dangerous path to tread, even more so for those "outside" the chosen view. Fundamentalism and fascism often go hand in hand. What better way to drum up support, from a uneducated populace, than to convince them that they are the righteous chosen of their God.

Extremist points of view, which deny outside thought and rational, lead to nothing but racism, bigotry, hatred and violence.

I know I'm at peace with the Universe and my God. I hope and pray that all who seek a higher meaning and connection within themselves find it through tolerance and compassion. But it is the karmic nature of this life, reality and world that there will be many contrary and conflictive points of view. A world where some are aware, others are not. Where some reach out in compassion and love - others with guns and violence, in a tyrannical need to assert their will. - ~C3L7IC~ , posted 09/17/07
