great dvd!
I started with drum solo 1 a while ago. Did 2 a bit later. Now I discoverd No. 3: beautiful!
I love Jenna's teaching style. Everything is clear and well structured. She excellently has taken the students situation into consideration. + She really gives a lot! Inspiration for free impro, performance, rhythm teaching, shimmy drills...Among the many dvds I own this is the one that is most gratifying to study with. I am eager to own her new dvd Next Level! - Nuria , posted 03/03/08

What a Value!!!
This DVD raqs!
For the price it is packed with useful information. I love the section regarding common ME Rhythms; while short, it does the trick. The choreographies are simple, but clean, and short enough for those of use who are a bit ADD. I also like the pace of her teaching sections; she is clear and concise; but she moves a good pace. I get very bored with DVDs that spend 1/2 an hour on a basic move (snoooze....)

Rythms & Belly Dance Combinations for Drum Solos
I absolutely loved this dvd. It was explained well and had options of how to break down the choreography. There were three dances-beginner, intermediate, and advanced. There was a performance video of each of the dances as well. Special features had extra shimmy drills. - Ariel , posted 09/13/06

This Belly Dance DVD is Affordable & Excellent for Beginners (and Others!)
Frequently students ask what DVDs I recommend for practice between classes. Unfortunately, some of the most accessible DVDs carried by the major bookstore chains are not necessarily the best.

I was most favorably impressed by "The Heartbeat of Bellydance," however. At under $15, it is reasonably priced.

The drummer, Raquy, explains and demonstrates various eight popular rhythms: baladi, saiidi, maksoum, masmoudi, ciftetelli, malfouf, ayub & semai. Then the dancer, Jenna, demonstrates movements to go with the various drum rhythms. There is also a warmup sequence and shimmy drills, along with a performance.

WorldDance New York produced this video. From their page, you can click on a link to Amazon.com to purchase or Netflix to rent (what a great idea, especially for those of us who are already Netflix members!): www.worlddancenewyork.com/store...ex.htm - , posted 01/22/06
