Book too Racy for its time!
John Fante wrote this book in the mid 30s and it wasn't published until 1985, due to its racy content. Its in the style of the existentialists that many writers were into at the time, such as Camus. Its reminds me a bit of The Stranger. If you're into finding out what working class life in Cali was like back then, along with the pre WWWII attitudes, I recommend this book. Its an easy read, only 165 pages, and it simply follows the life of its progtagonist as he goes from day to day, working at drudge jobs near the Pacific. - Unsubscribed , posted 08/30/04
