good storytelling
The story was told wonderfully, had me on the edge of my seat and bouncing with anxiety. It spoke of and taught a lot of basic truths about setting goals, etc. I was waiting to really see him "touch the void" though. A very wonderful accounting of the spiritual self pulling override operations on the mental self for sake of survival. - ~pixie~ , posted 02/25/05

Soooo awesome...
It's amazing how bad it gets, and you can't imagine it can get worse...of course it does. Such an incredible story, reminiscent of Beck Weathers' experience on Everest in 1996. Definitely one of the best climbing movies I've ever seen. - Unsubscribed , posted 12/22/04

best climbing film I've seen in a long time
then again, best film, period, that i've seen in a long time. Finally something that didn't make me wince at the gross inaccuracies and misperceptions that abound in other "hollywood-ized" p.o.s.'s - Irenie , posted 07/14/04

awesome true story
saw this at telluride film festival and got to meet joe simpson the author and protagonist. this is the most amazing climbing survival story and a terrific dramatization. when asked whether joe now believed in g-d, he said "g-d wasnt with me there. i saved myself. and he's not with me now either." - mark , posted 07/07/04

A gripping true life / death moutain climbing tale
A true story of 2 mountain climbers who got into a serious accident while climbing a peak in the Andes that had never been successfully climbed before. This flick definately went under the radar. I was cringing throughout the entire movie. This story has become legend throughout the mountain climbing community. A "do not miss!" for any outdoor enthusiast! - grasshopper , posted 07/13/04
