Look...it really won't take off until members want to participate. I would recommend all tribe members to join up, for times when our beloved tribes is down with the donuts. - cup , posted 03/27/09 |

Would probably catch on if more tribe.net users were even aware of it. Some Refugee users mistakenly think that it's a high-res photo dump, seemingly unloading their collections there. Yeah, it's a problem. Problem #2: Ning seems to have shifting and vague standards about what constitutes 'Adult Content'. Much confusion, inevitably POing the Erotic crowd. People are currently slow to post there~ who wants to shout into an empty room? - saint_al , posted 01/04/09 |

At least tribe lets you express yourself. Too many types of expression restricted or banned from Tribe Refugees. - SpiritFlame , posted 01/04/09 |

As far as Refugees goes, I guess there's hope. I do like the versatility of some of the features, but the kinks of what is and is not allowed still have me a bit puzzled. Being singled out as a perv for the tasteful stuff I did have on there kinda frosted me (Betcha, you know what happened there and it wasn't right!!! AT ALL...) I've been a member of a writing site on Ning for some time now and I enjoy it for the networking possibilities, but I joined tribe for the freedoms it provides along with the social benefits. So, I'm more than a little disappointed in Refugees thus far. I suppose time will tell. And as many have already said, it's better than nothing for keeping up with a buncha tribe buds at once. Luv, Piece and Tickly Feets...Ooooops I shouldn't a said "piece"...Oh, that's right, I'm safe...I'm not on Ning... *smooches* ~T~ - Quixoticrepose , posted 10/28/08 |

And therefore, too contrived to get a good vote from me. Sure, tribe has troubles with connectivity, but it seems tacky (though it IS a good "business" move to advertise on your competitor's page) to spam every tribe network with this. - Christina , posted 10/01/08 |

The site gives much more flexibility, along with no problems with breaking down or going to slow(If your computer is slow on that and this site, both, it is a computer issue too, as triberefugees flies on speed. There isn't adult content, other than for art or burners stuff, BUT...it has a sidebar with links to other NING networks, that require a quick, simple signup for anything you desire. How hard is the Ning network? I have set up my own network on one of those links on triberefugees and it looks, at minimum, semi-pro(The name is "Betcha Have Desires", which will also include the groups: "Hysterical Adults", "Women With Curves", "Rath" and, of course...Betcha Have Desires). Ning is easy once you open your mind to change. I checked it out awhile ago and it seemed a bit overwhelming with the code. Since the most recent times of technical difficulties here, I decided to go at it with a more open mind and it wasn't hard with that mindset. Keeping that all in mind, I would give it a 9.5 rating out of 10 possible points. My only complaint, that drops it by .5 points? It can't read my mind and just do what I desire without me having to type in info, lmao. Shadow , aka Betcha P.S. It's kind of messed up when a person gives a "1" or "2" rating to a site they haven't tried, but....I am glad to leave that kind of approach to things to for here on tribe.net. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/03/08 |

Tribe Refugees seems like a place that will eventually be pretty good. Of course, it lacks the wide variety of diverse "tribes" at this time, since it is so new, but I have to say I have yet to see it fall down. I have several Ning-based social networks that I have created for various endeavors, and its flexibility is pretty good. There are some interface things that are confusing to me yet, but that was true of tribe when I first joined it. ANd jesus...today....I was just sitting there reading a thread when suddenly Tribe went belly-up with some damned server disconnect......again.....sigh. In the time it takes me to log in, and actually GET to a thread ij Tribe, I could have posted 3 messages in Tribe Refugees. - Unsubscribed , posted 09/22/08 |

It's confusing at first but I'm getting used to it.I'm not 100% crazy about it,but it's definitely picked up over the past month or so.It is at least reliable and that's one of the things I value.I still love Tribe more, but not as much as I used to.It's about 50/50 for me over all.Besides it's nice to go to when I can't contact friends here, nice to fall back on.It definitely has promise. - Unsubscribed , posted 09/17/08 |

but it lacks integration nonetheless, it's somewhere to go astrology: triberefugees.ning.com/group/astronuts Mark Pincus Blog - update on tribe markpincus.typepad.com/markpi...be.html "i'm responding here to the multiple comments coming in from tribe members. first, regarding who's operating tribe. darren has submitted his resignation. it seems like lately it became a big job for one guy. AT and i are hoping to hire another great sys admin. the job pays $70-90k depending on the skillset. we think its a great job and hope great people apply. regarding transparency on the business and economics. it has been thanks to the members who purchased subscriptions that tribe has managed to break even and continue. businesses dont normallly share this information but we are open to reconsidering that. in general, we have kept tribe going because of YOU, the passionate community. it is NOT a great business, but that's not the point. the vc investors are long gone. we are not operating it in the hopes that it will be a major hit like facebook or myspace. we are open to the idea of making it officially a non profit, however there is a lender that is still owed some money and they would have to agree. there's been a lot of talk about the fact that 'i have moved on'. yes. that's true. tribe stopped being a full time ceo gig for me about 3 or 4 years ago. i am passionately building zynga as a social gaming company that can offer (hopefully) innovative games across all social networks. we remain committed to seeing tribe persist. we realize how much investment you the community have in this site, in your blogs and photos and tribes. we take this responsibility very seriously and consider it our duty to safely steward your web community. i think we should organize a bar night and get everyone together to talk about it all. AT and i can try to answer questions and hear everyone's ideas. " ## - zdbo , posted 09/17/08 |
