The ambitious goals of this memorial are driven by our desire and effort to make the nation and the world aware of at least one of the many heroes that died that fateful morning in September, so people can learn his name and also see a glimpse of the life he sacrificed, so that others may live.

On the day this memorial was commissioned, PO Segarra and PO Steele both insisted upon the criteria that this memorial should be timeless, as powerful and meaningful a century from now as it is today; that it should maintain all the dignity deserving of all the fallen heroes of September Eleventh with no expense or effort spared; that the Names of all his fallen brother and sister police officers be included, in whose company, he is forever immortalized.

It is very important to us that the Suarez family always be comforted by the fact that their sacrifice was not, and is not in vain, that the lives of so many have been saved and an immeasurable debt of gratitude is owed to their family.

In this memorial, we hope to express not only our own deep sadness and our great pride in these heroes but also to provide a means for many others, anywhere in the world, that may never have had the opportunity, to express their feelings and support to the Suarez family, and to the entire family of the NYPD.

To those ends, this memorial has been dedicated.
