This is the best of a dozen cookbooks I own, including many non-vegan ones. My wife, who eats some meat, goes to this book when she wants a special recipe. I know when I choose a recipe from Vegan with a Vengeance that it will be a good recipe, and possibly one of the best. As a vegan, I use several books that have offered good meals, but most also have some meals that as bland as non-vegans expect. These meals hit with blends of spices and flavors that make you drool for more. Meat eaters love them, too, and it’s not necessary to shuffle your feet and half-apologize that this is a “vegan recipe.” Just serve it. Isa is a chef with strong skills, a writer with wit, and a person of great common sense. Get a copy of this book, make an Isa Pizza, some Tofu Scramble (this book showed me that I CAN love tofu), and a few pumpkin muffins.  The only recipe I've had trouble with is the chocolate chip cookie one - and I played around with soymilk and margarine and it all worked out. My favorite recipes are the coconut carrot cake, fauxstess cupcakes, tempeh bacon and the pancakesssss. - jess , posted 03/13/06 |

I was recently delighted to receive Vegan with a Vengeance from a friend, and I've been amazed at the recipes inside! Every recipe I have tried so far has come out perfect, with the Raspberry Chocolate Blondies being the biggest prize yet! The ingredients and instructions are simple, rarely containing anything you wouldn't normally have on hand, and when an unusual ingredient is included, you're often provided with a common substitute. The flavors generated range from uncannily just-like-Mom-made comfort food to exotic new flavor combinations that I've been delighted to try for the first time. Already have a bunch of cookbooks?
