I don't know what she was stripping for exactly, but she was brave enough to do it for her cause, and I like PETA, being a vegetarian. I never saw any chickens hug each other before this video either. Poor animals. Why did that one man throw a cement cinder block on that pig's head? It's said that butchers cannot understand spiritual life due to being so sinful, and I agree even more after seeing that. Meat eating should be against the law. - Unsubscribed , posted 02/07/07 |

Nudity can be effective in art and in making a statement. but they really lost it here. It's not sensational enough to keep the attention of those who would not normally listen, and it's over kill for those who would normally listen (and agree) to her statements. Peta's posters have been much more effective. The star power combined with the shock of nudity draws the attention to the poster and the brief message draws the viewer into learning more. I think nudity can be effective in an art piece or statement depending on the presentation. I'm not sure how effective this piece was because she was so charming. In a recent BBC study on gender and brain use, when a beautiful woman was making a statement men were often distracted by her appearance and were unable to concentrate on what she was saying. I felt distracted watching her undress. More effective were the shots of animals in danger and imprisonment. It was so sad I could not finish watching it. PETA has had a campaign "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" for many years. It comes out every winter and I always enjoy seeing nake people walking around downtown. Does it really stop people from wearing fur? I don't know. I think getting a bucket of red paint thrown on your fur coat sends a clearer message. - max , posted 01/25/07 |
