 i caught a great obscure film starring mcaulay culkin's little brother kieran. the film was called 'igby goes down.' this film is a major studio release starring ryan phillipe, susan sarandon, amanda peet, jeff goldblum and the very lovely claire danes. that's quite a cast isn't it? what a great film this was. it's of the new york rich people with problems genre but this kieran culkin is some actor. he just about single-handedly pulls this movie from ordinary to extraordinary. this young actor holds his own while surrounded by hollywood's best and brightest and managed to bring life to this somewhat predictable script....the script is somewhere between the great gatsby and the catcher in the rye, but susan sarandon and jeff goldblum give life to these rich, snooty, and self-involved new yorkers with $$$ and lots of emptiness. what a great surprise..the movie was over before i knew it and it managed to bring me back to the days when it seemed new york was full of these teens that were running away from a life of ritualized fortune hunting. highly recommended! - sean808080 , posted 12/19/04 |
