last.fm is definitely for the music nerd set; it allows you to create a profile for yourself based entirely around what kind of music you listen to. how? you download a plugin that keeps track of what you've been listening to lately, and on your profile, it shows what you've been listening to recently, who your favorite artists are from the last week, who they are overall, and which tracks are your favorites. you can also create radio stations by "tagging" your music according to criteria of your choosing, and can listen to other people's stations of what they like to listen to, as well. furthermore, last.fm does artistmatch radio, which means you can put in an artist or group's name, and hear a station which plays similar artists to the one of your choosing! all in all, i'd say it's a great site just for that, but they go on to provide music reccomendations for you based on what you've been listening to, which means there's always more music to be had and found and heard! check it out! ~e. - .erinnn. , posted 01/24/06 |
