actually, they're fruit, not nuts
ok, these were too great not to share! i had heard about these on the internet awhile back & they sounded like a nice idea that i would want to try, but i had my doubts. i forgot about them for a long time & then found them lst week in the co-op i used to work at. i bought a box (about $9 for 16-20 loads of enviro-friendly wash) & decided that i would reserve them only for my diapers & inserts. i've been handscrubbing my diapers for months exclusively with dawn because i didn't want to deal with the buildup issue with biokleen or bronner's, but i've always wondered how that soap is treating sol's skin. it is very chemically.

a few days ago it was time to wash my inserts again. eew. they have developed this musty, old-pee stink that permeates the dirty bin. when i wash them, it gets slightly better, but it's still discernable when i stick my head in the washer after they're done. i followed the directions (4 "nuts" in the muslin bag, steep in boiling water to make a tea, pour everything in with the wash...) and wait. 33 minutes later, i'm actually excited to go downstairs & switch out the laundry. i'm still skeptical, i thought "well, if they don't work, i'll just run the load thru again with powder soap", but i open up the washer and... nothing. it smelled like nothing! hallalujah! no pee stink, but no detergent perfume, either. just clean diapers!

they're worth trying for so many reasons. they work, they're the most earth-friendly soap on the market, compostable, biodegradable & sustainable. they're also safe against baby's skin & leave no residue or buildup. no coconut oils to clog our expensive pockets! if you haven't tried them, look into them. i know i sound like a total commercial, but i just can't say enough good things about them. - Unsubscribed , posted 06/22/07
